Success
in the Silverstone based Gold Line Bearings Championship in 1999 gave Shane
a platform to move up to the British Racing Drivers Club Formula Ford Championship
in 2000. The higher profile championship took Shane to Donington Park and
Croft, as well as the National, International, and Grand Prix circuits at
Silverstone.
Shane took 4th in the Championship,
collecting a pole position and several podium finishes during the season.
Unfortunately a certain race win at Croft eluded him after a complete
failure of the rear suspension with 3 laps to go, forcing Shane to nurse
the car home in 3rd.
